Westies fall in Finale
Foran tops WH 6-1

 The West Haven girls tennis team concluded the regular season with its fifth straight loss, falling to Foran 6-1 in Milford Thursday afternoon. The Westies end the year at 2-16.
In singles action, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella fell to Sam Giesman-Ginter 8-2, second-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 8-1 against Grace Hiza and third-seeded Hannah Allan lost 8-4 to Alex Iannotti. Fourth-seeded Paige Sheridan had West Haven's lone victory with an 8-5 victory over Arshia Puri. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Evelyn Fabian lost 8-0 against Jill Raucci and Katie Stokes. Second-seeded Christina Chao and Skylar Serenson lost 8-2 against Jenna Lang and Maddie Wong, while third-seeded Nasrin Jabarkhyl and Michaela Masa fell 8-2 against Taylor Patton and Becca Carey. 

Westies fall to Hamden
Green Dragons post 7-0 win

 The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 2-15 with a 7-0 loss to Hamden on Senior Day Wednesday afternoon.

The home match saw Stefania Vendrella fall in the top slot against Vidhya Moron 6-0, 6-2. Second-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-0, 6-1 against Katie Esposito, third-seeded Evelyn Fabian dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Jada Wilborne, and fourth-seeded Hannah Allan lost 6-1, 6-0 to Janaya Laude.

In doubles action, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Paige Sheridan lost 6-2, 6-4 against Zara Ahmed and Sophia Coausin. Second-seeded Christina Chao and Michaela Masa lost 6-0, 6-0 against Sarah Skeeves and Nikita Sukmono and third-seeded India Sloane and Dayanlee Quezada lost 6-1, 6-0 to Jasmine Jomanez and Cayce Andrews.

SHA dominates in 7-0 win

 The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 2-14 on the year with a 7-0 loss against Sacred Heart Academy in West Haven Tuesday afternoon. 
In singles action, Sacred Heart Academy swept with 6-0, 6-0 victories. Hannah Allan fell as the top seed to Monika Krah, second-seeded Paige Sheridan fell to Jenna Turry, third-seeded Michaela Masa lost to Tori D'Agostino and fourth-seeded Dayanlee Quezada lost against Maja Jakubowski. 
In doubles action, top-seeded India Sloane and Shea Clarke lost 6-1, 6-0 against Ashley Pyne and Olivia Ross, second-seeded Nasrin Jabarkhyl and Amy Loja lost 6-0, 6-0 against Claire Sagliano and Rachael Radwill, and third-seeded Ariana Nguyen and Olivia Nicolelli lost 6-4, 6-2 to Morgan Duffnay and Sarah Matthews.  

Westies fall to Mercy

The West Haven girls tennis team fell to Mercy 7-0 Monday afternoon. The loss dropped West Haven to 2-13 on the year.
In singles play, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella lost 6-3, 6-0 against Juliette Piazza, second-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-0, 6-0 against Jenna Ireland and third-seeded Evelyn Fabian dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Casey Rosa-Breton. Fourth-seeded Hannah Allen also suffered a loss, 6-1, 6-2 against Julia Wenceslao. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Paige Sheridan lost 6-4, 6-1 against Kathryn Hanly and Kate Hall, while second-seeded Christina Chao and Skylar Serenson lost 6-4, 6-1 against Alex Porczak and Emily Houchin. Third-seeded India Sloane and Michaela Masa lost 6-3, 6-3 against Mary Balasuriyar and Jamie Roxas. 

Law tops Westies
WH falls 6-1 in Milford

 The West Haven girls tennis team fell to Jonathan Law 6-1 Thursday afternoon in Milford. 
Top-seeded Stefania Vendrella picked up West Haven's lone victory in singles play with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win over Victoria Contaxis. Second-seeded Maggie Yeh fell 6-4, 6-2 against Monica Pydipati, third-seeded Hannah Allan fell 6-1, 5-7, 10-7, and Michaela Masa lost 6-0, 6-0 against Emma Shea. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Paige Sheridan dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Trisha Brady and Megan Gleason. Second-seeded Skylar Serenson and India Sloane lost 6-0, 6-2 against Deepika Senthinathan and Meghana Jaladanki, and third-seeded Nasrin Jabarkhyl and Amy Loja fell 6-0, 6-0 against Brianna Arnold and Anna Downs.

- The West Haven girls tennis team fell to East Haven 4-3 Tuesday afternoon. With the road loss, West Haven's eighth in a row, the Westies fell to 1-11 on the season.

Lyman Hall posts 6-1 victory

The West Haven girls tennis team battled but fell to Lyman Hall 6-1 Monday afternoon in Wallingford. West Haven's seventh straight loss dropped the team to 1-10 on the year. 
In singles play Shayna Sanford topped Maggie Yeh 2-6, 6-2 (10-2), second-seeded Evelyn Fabian defeated Natalia Morosz fell 6-3, 7-6, and third-seeded Hannah Allan dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Olivia Spence. Fourth-seeded India Sloane fell 6-4, 6-3 against Savannah Farkash. 
In doubles action, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Paige Sheridan lost 6-0, 6-0 against Mallory Struble and Alyssa Baldyga, and second-seeded Christina Chao and Skylar Serenson lost 6-2, 6-4 against Marisa Donarumo and Robyn Honyotski. Third-seeded Michaela Masa and Nasrin Jabarkhyl fell 6-0, 6-1 against Valerie Fekete and Lexie Agro.

- The West Haven girls tennis team dropped its sixth consecutive match, falling to Sacred Heart Academy 7-0 in Hamden Thursday afternoon. 
In singles play, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision against Monika Krah, second-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-2, 6-0 against Jenna Tubby and third-seeded Evelyn Fabian fell 6-1, 6-0 against Maggie Hughes. Fourth-seeded Hannah Allen lost 6-1, 6-2 against Maia Jakubowski.

 The West Haven girls tennis team took on Cheshire on the road Wednesday afternoon and fell 7-0. 
In singles action, Stefania Vendrella lost 6-3, 6-0 against Lila McNamee, second-seeded Maggie Yeh fell 6-2, 6-3 against Caroline Jentzen, and third-seeded Evelyn Fabian dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision against Amanda Murray. Fourth-seeded Hannah Allen lost 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 against Erin Wu.

Branford posts 7-0 win

 The West Haven girls tennis team fell to 1-7 with its fourth straight loss Monday afternoon. In a home match against Branford, West Haven dropped a 7-0 decision. 
In singles play, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella lost 6-1, 6-3 against Ellie Bloomquist, second-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-0, 6-3 against Lauren Elmasry and third-seeded Hannah Allan fell 6-0, 6-0 against Jenn Huang. Fourth-seeded Shea Clarke also dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision against Emma Dwyer. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Irvie Mumar and Paige Sheridan lost 6-4, 6-2 against Rachel Krug and Allie Cerrone, second-seeded Skylar Serenson and Christina Chao lost 6-0, 7-6 (3) against Tory Rudden and Keeley Lepre, and third-seeded Michaela Masa and India Sloane fell 6-2, 6-0 against Carol Fry and Paige McNeil.

 The West Haven girls tennis team dropped its third consecutive match Friday afternoon, falling to Sheehan 6-1. With the loss, the Westies fell to 1-6 on the year.

In singles action, Stefania Vendrella fell to Justine Hoover 8-0 in the top slot, Irvie Mumar lost 8-0 against Sydney Fuhr in the second slot and third-seeded Maggie Yeh lost an 8-0 decision against Srivani Agnihotram. Hannah Allen picked up West Haven's lone win in the singles slot, defeating Anna Thai 8-3.

 The West Haven girls tennis team lost its second straight match, falling to Shelton 5-2 Tuesday afternoon in West Haven. With the loss, West Haven fell to 1-5 on the season.

In singles play, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella defeated Lindsay Shanahan 6-4, 6-2, second-seeded Irvie Mumar lost 6-3, 6-4 against Sejal Bhargava, and third-seeded Maggie Yeh posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lourdes Rivera. Hannah Allan fell 6-3, 6-4 against Natalie Ferns. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Michaela Masa and Paige Sheridan fell 6-0, 6-0 against Ally Packnick and Alexis Zhitomi, while second-seeded Skylar Serenson and Nasrin Jabarkhyl dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Elise Wordell and Vicky Kostour. Third-seeded Ariana Nguyen and Shea Clarke lost 6-3, 6-4 against Jess Weiss and Eunice Kim.

 Looking to keep its winning ways alive, the West Haven girls tennis team ran into a tough Lauralton Hall squad and fell 7-0 Monday afternoon in Milford.

In singles action, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella fell to Shelby Vertula 6-1, 6-1, second-seeded Irvie Mumar lost 6-0, 6-0 against Juliana Gonzalez, and third-seeded Maggie Yeh fell 6-1, 6-0 against Catie Lynch. Hannah Allan lost 6-1, 6-2 against Lily DiDominico. 
In doubles play, top-seeded Paige Sheridan and Michaela Masa lost 6-0, 6-0 against Tara Boyd and Michaela O'Donnell, while second-seeded Erin O'Connell and Skylar Korman defeated West Haven's Skylar Serenson and Nasrin Jabarkhyl. Third-seeded Shea Clarke and Ariana Nguyen lost 6-0, 6-1 against Kristen Dowling and Maddie Peloso.

Win is first of season

The West Haven girls tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 4-3 decision over Lyman Hall in West Haven Friday afternoon. With the win, West Haven improved to 1-3 on the year.

"We continued our commitment to consistency and smart tennis out there," West Haven coach Mike Bartone said. "This match was as tight as can be and we pulled through some tough matches. This victory was the result of contributions from each member of our team."
Stefania Vendrella was victorious in the top singles slot over Shayna Sanford by scores of 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5) and 6-2. Second-seeded Irvie Mumar fell 6-3, 6-4 against Natalija Marosz, third-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-2, 6-4 against Olivia Spence and fourth-seeded Evelyn Fabian won 6-1, 6-1 against Hannah Russell.

"The match came down to our number one singles match where senior captain Stefania Vendrella was able to win the second set in a close tiebreak to force the deciding third," Bartone said. "She quickly went up 5-0 with a combination of discipline and dedication. She was the definition of a warrior out there and worked hard for each and every last point."
In doubles play, top-seeded Michaela Masa and Paige Sheridan fell 6-0, 6-0 against Mallory Struble and Marisa Donarumo, and second-seeded Christina Chao and Skylar Serenson won 6-1, 6-1 over Robyn Honyotski and Savannah Farkash. Third-seeded India Sloane and Hannah Allan defeated Bianca Vega and Val Fekete 6-1, 6-3.

Law Prevails
Westies blanked 7-0

 The West Haven girls tennis team is still searching for its first win of the season. Looking to get that initial win, the Westies were blanked Thursday afternoon against Jonathan Law, 7-0, in West Haven to fall to 0-3 on the season.

"Our girls worked incredibly hard today against a very talented Law team," West Haven coach Michael Bartone said. "We committed to extending rallies and staying in points with consistency and smart tennis. While the results were not in our favor, I couldn't be prouder of the effort and commitment by every member of our team."
In singles action, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella fell to Brianna Gardner 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Irvie Mumar lost to Victoria Contaxis 6-1, 6-1 and third-seeded Maggie Yeh lost to Maeve Rourke 6-2, 6-4. Evelyn Fabian dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Emma Shea in the fourth slot.

Westies fall to East Haven
Fabian posts lone WH victory in 6-1 defeat

 Looking for its first win of the season, the West Haven girls tennis team could not get by East Haven. With its lone victory coming in singles play, West Haven fell to the Yellowjackets 6-1 Monday afternoon.

"The girls worked hard for every point right up until the very end," West Haven coach Michael Bartone said after his team fell to 0-2. "I was incredibly impressed by the communication and camaraderie from our doubles teams. Most of these girls were starting in their first or second varsity match, but showed a great deal of leadership on the court. We will continue stressing the fundamentals during our practices and building up our singles and doubles strategy as the season progresses."

In singles play, top-seeded Stefania Vendrella fell to Jenna Pane 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, second-seeded Irvie Mumar lost to Devyn Gargano 6-0, 6-3 and third-seeded Maggie Yeh lost 6-2, 6-2 against Sarah Harkins. Fourth-seeded Evelyn Fabian posted West Haven's lone victory with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Nallely Maguna. 
"Evelyn won her second straight match of the season playing singles by using a combination of consistency and intelligence," Bartone said. "She was able to construct points and frustrate her opponent with the ability to stay in each point for just a little longer."
In doubles action, top-seeded Michaela Masa and Paige Sheridan suffered a 6-4, 7-6 (10) loss against Giselle Ramirez and Karla Gonzalez, second-seeded Christina Chao and Skylar Serenson lost 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 against Rachel Korwick and Toni Julianelle, and third-seeded India Sloane and Nasrin Jabarkhyl lost 6-0, 6-1 against Katie Shneer and Sandy Nguyen. 

Just Short
WH opens season with 4-3 loss

 The West Haven girls tennis team opened the season with a 4-3 loss at Career/Hillhouse/Hyde. 
The Westies won twice in singles play and once in doubles action in the loss. 
In singles play, top-seed and senior Stefania Vendrella posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory, junior Irvie Mumar fell 6-1, 6-3, junior Maggie Yeh lost 7-5, 7-5 and junior Evelyn Fabian posted a 6-0, 6-3 win. 
In doubles action, top-seeded junior Paige Sheridan and senior Michaela Masa fell 6-2, 6-0, senior Christina Chao and freshman Skylar Serenson won 6-4, 6-1 and senior India Sloane and junior Nasrin Jabarkhyl lost 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 11-9.
