  - Th
e West Haven girls track team opened the season with  a pair of wins in Wallingford Tuesday afternoon. The Westies topped Lyman Hall 87-60 and Lauralton Hall 87-52.

"The girls did well in the cold weather and there were many personal bests," West Haven coach Modestine Vaughn said. "I had multiple athletes close to qualifying for states like (senior captain) Daniela Morales for shot, (junior) Brianna Sebastian in high jump, and Tomalyn Williams in the 100. Our 4 x 100 relay team started out strong, so now the task is to continue to develop to an even stronger team.”
