Westies fall to ND in Opener
Green Knights post 5-2 win over WH

- The West Haven boys tennis team opened the season in frigid conditions. The temperature had to feel colder as the Westies fell to cross-town rival Notre Dame 5-2 in the season opener at West Haven Thursday afternoon.

Both West Haven victories came in doubles play as Nash Noble and Julian Thomas defeated Andrew Kaminsky and Anthony Frangipane 6-0, 6-4. Second -seeded Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith defeated Rory Schreck and Sean Cox 6-2, 2-6, 10-5, while third-seeded Riyad Al-Bakri and Zach Kerzner fell 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 against Rory O'Connor and Brendan Connina.

In singles action, top-seeded James Delgado dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision against Andrew Forchetti, second-seeded Joseph Delgado lost 6-3, 6-2 against Andrew Singer, and third-seeded Kent Dimaisip lost 6-2, 6-4 against Eric Harkins. Jeremy Tammaro fell 6-0, 6-0 against Oliver Shannon in the fourth slot. 


Guilford tops Westies
Indians post 6-1 victory over WH

The West Haven boys tennis team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 6-1 loss against Guilford in West Haven Monday afternoon. 

West Haven's lone victory came in singles action where top-seeded 

James Delgado defeated Gianni Esposito 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Guilford's second-seeded Alex Kagan defeated Joseph Delgado 6-0, 6-1, Walker Mulligan topped Kent Dimaisip 6-0, 6-1, and David Mason defeated Julian Thomas 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Guilford's Mike Hucker and Nick Cellotti beat top-seeded Nash Noble and Jeremy Tammaro 6-0, 6-1. Second-seeded Sam Inchalik and Noah Horton defeated West Haven's Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith 6-0, 6-7, 6-1, and Joel Cimino and Eric Masterlarz topped Riyad Al-Bakri and Zach Kerzner 6-4, 6-3.

 - After opening the season with three straight losses, the West Haven boys tennis team picked up its initial victory of the season with a 7-0 decision over Platt Tech Monday in West Haven. West Haven improves to 1-3 with the team win.

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Spencer Iamartino 6-1, 6-0, second-seeded Joseph Delgado topped Jelez Lopez 6-0,  6-0, third-seeded Kent Dimaisip beat Justin Brunetti 6-0, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Corey Smith defeated Chris Smith 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, top-seeded Julian Thomas and Jeremy Tammaro topped Josten Leeleve and Alex Nielsen 6-0, 6-1, second-seeded Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith defeated Nazaire Walter and Keaton Jelbert 6-1, 6-0, and third-seeded Riyad Al-Bakri and Zach Kerzner beat Alex Guggenheim and Desmond Dumroy 6-0, 6-0.

Westies blank Career

 After snapping its losing skid to open the season, the West haven boys tennis team has posted consecutive shutout victories. The latest came Wednesday afternoon when the team blanked Career 7-0 in West Haven. 

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Jonlon Smith 6-1, 6-2, second-seeded Joseph Delgado defeated Arturo Munoz 6-0, 6-0, and third-seeded Kent Dimaisip topped. Cristian Morales 6-0, 6-0. Fourth-seeded Corey Smith topped Ivan Perez 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles play, Career forfeited all three matches.

Westies improve to 3-3

 - After opening the season with three straight losses, the West Haven boys tennis team has flipped the switch, winning three in a row,

The latest victory came Monday afternoon as West Haven blanked Sheehan 7-0 in West Haven. With the team victory, West Haven improved to 3-3. 

In singles action, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Mark Amodo 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Joseph Delgado topped Aymen Tayabi-Idrissi 6-0, 6-0, third-seeded Kent Dimaisip defeated Julio Sena 6-1, 6-1. Fourth-seeded Zach Kerzner topped Mike Gomez 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, top-seeded Julian Thomas and Jeremy Tammaro defeated Alex Roman and John Yoder 6-1, 3-6 (10-6), second-seeded Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith defeated Gabe Wells and John Womelsdorf 6-0, 6-2. Third-seeded Nash Noble and Jason Ramirez defeated Aaron Gamble and Andrey Carboni 6-1, 6-1.


On a Roll
Westies win fourth straight match

- The West Haven boys tennis team has been on a roll since losing its first three matches of the season. Thursday afternoon's sweep of Hamden was West Haven's fourth straight team victory and helped the Westies improve to 4-3 on the year. 

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Zak Levine 7-5, 6-2, second-seeded Joe Delgado topped Akshar Agarwal 6-3,6-1, third-seeded Kent Dimaisip beat Alex Proscino 6-1,4-6,(10-5), and fourth-seeded Zachary Kerzner won by default.

In doubles play, Jeremy Tammaro and Julian Thomas defeated Connor Grace and Dave Gutierrez 6-0,6-2, second-seeded Corey Smith and Ehsan Sumra defeated Chris Hart and Rohan Kumar 6-1,6-1, while third-seeded Nash Noble and Riyad Al-Bakri defeated Ezekiel Daye and Rohan Menon 6-3,6-1.

 - The West Haven boys tennis team continues to roll, winning its fifth straight match with a 5-2 victory over Lyman Hall in Wallingford Saturday afternoon. 

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Jack Gaynor 6-1, 6-2, second-seeded Joseph Delgado topped Corey Flynn 6-2, 6-2, third-seeded Kent Dimaisip topped Guy Fenn 6-2, 6-3 and fourth-seeded Zach Kerzner defeated Zach Marchi-Guasp 6-2, 5-7, (5-7), 7-5.

In doubles play, top-seeded Julian Thomas and Corey Smith defeated Adam Marchi-Guasp and Ryan Meagher 6-4 6-3.

Lyman Hall's Jared Cervero and Fred Torres topped Ehsan Sumra and Riyad Al-Bakri 6-1, 6-0, and Collin DeBaise and Jake Lynn defeated Jason Ramirez and Anthony Sihaphong 7-5, 6-2.

Westies fall to Cheshire
Winning streak over at five

 - The West Haven boys tennis team saw its five-match win streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss against Cheshire in West Haven Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven fell to 5-4 on the year. 

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado topped Yasha Laskin 6-3, 6-4, while second-seeded Joseph Delgado defeated Yasin Tarabar 6-0, 6-1. 

Cheshire took home the rest of the matches as Dan Eldredge topped Kent Dimaisip 6-2, 6-0, and fourth-seeded Keith Arneson defeated Zach Kerzner 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, top-seeded Nate Pisani and Ben Fritz topped Julian Thomas and Jeremy Tammaro 6-2, 6-0, second-seeded Andrew Walton and James Fanning defeated Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith 7-6, 6-0, and Christian Kjeldon and Ty Mann topped Nash Noble and Riyad Al-Bakri 6-4, 6-2.


Prep tops Westies
WH drop 5-2 decision

After topping Wilbur Cross, the West Haven boys tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against Fairfield Prep in Fairfield Friday afternoon to fall to 6-5 on the year. 

In singles action, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Nick Allen 6-2, 6-3; and second-seeded Joseph Delgado defeated Peter Haley 7-6, 6-1. Third-seeded Louis Guzzi of Prep topped Kent Dimaisip 6-2, 6-1, and fourth-seeded Sean Lynch topped Zach Kerzner 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles play, Prep's Brian Donahue and Jared Dienst defeated Jeremy Tammaro and Julian Thomas 6-2, 6-0, while Julian Richtarich and Kyle Barry topped West Haven's Ehsan Sumra and Corey Smith 6-0, 6-2. Third-seeded Charlie Young and Finn Hublitz defeated West Haven's Nash Noble and Riyad Al-Bakri 6-4, 6-4.

- The West Haven boys tennis team dropped its third straight match with a 7-0 decision in West Haven. West Haven fell to 6-6 with the loss.

In singles play, top-seeded Josh Israel of Hamden topped James Delgado 6-1, 6-4. second-seeded Noah Gulla defeated Joseph Delgado 6-1, 6-0, and third-seeded Max Thompson defeated Kent Dimaisip 6-1, 6-0. Fourth-seeded Owen Sweet topped Corey Smith 2-6, 6-2, 10-4. 

In doubles action, top-seeded Robbie Israel and Reilly Vejar defeated Jeremy Tammaro and Ehsan Sumra 6-0, 6-0, second-seeded Alex Bueno and Darby Rogers topped Nash Noble and Zach Kerzner 6-0, 6-2, while third-seeded Jamie Watkins and David Levchenko defeated Riyad Al-Bakri and Jason Ramirez 6-0, 6-0.


Westies fall to Amity
WH drops third in a row

The West Haven boys tennis team played a tough match, but fell to Amity 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at Amity. With the loss, West Haven fell to 6-7 on the year. 

In singles play, top-seeded James Delgado defeated Brett Gloria 6-3, 3-6 6-0, and second-seeded Joseph Delgado defeated Arthur Lihar 7-6, 4-6 6-0; Amity's Ayaan Malik topped Kent Dimaisip 7-5, 6-3 and West haven's Corey Smith defeated Alex Cadelina 6-4, 6-2. 

In doubles play, Amity's top seed of Marco Delsanto and Zach Brocklehurst defeated Jeremy Tammaro and Julian Thomas 6-0, 6-1, while second seed from Amity Chris Bullers and Vince Li defeated Zach Kerzner and Nash Noble 6-1, 6-0. Amity's third seed of Evan Arovas and Max Dragan topped Ehsan Sumra and Jason Ramirez 6-2, 6-0. 
The victory was Amity coach Chris Raffone’s 200th career win.

WH tops Platt Tech 7-0

 The West Haven boys tennis team got back to the .500 mark with a 7-0 victory over Platt Tech Thursday afternoon in Milford. With the team win, West Haven improved to 7-7 on the year. 

In singles play, top-seeded Joseph Delgado defeated Spencer Iamartino 8-0, second-seeded James Delgado topped Jake Lopez 8-0, third-seeded Corey Smith defeated Justin Brunetti 8-0, and fourth-seeded Zach Kerzner topped Chris Smith 8-1. Fifth-seeded Jason Ramirez also won as he topped Naziaire Waller 8-0.

In doubles play,  top-seeded Nash Nable and Ehsan Sumra defeated Joston Lecleves and Alex Nielson 8-0, while second-seeded Anthony Sihaphong and Jonathan Saier defeated Renzo Adaro and Tyler Bernard 8-1.

 The West Haven boys tennis team fell below .500 with a 5-2 loss against Notre Dame Monday afternoon. With the loss, West Haven fell to 7-8 on the season. 

In singles play, Notre Dame's top seed of Andrew Forchetti defeated James Delgado 6-1, 6-1, second-seeded Andre Singer of Notre Dame topped Joseph Delgado 6-0, 6-0, third-seeded Kent Dimaisip of West Haven topped Eric Harkins 6-4, 6-4, and fourth-seeded Oliver Shannon of Notre Dame defeated Corey Smith 6-2, 6-1.
