Boys fall to Prep, Hand and Foran

 The West Haven boys’ cross country team continues to search for its first win of the season.
Tuesday afternoon saw the team battle but come up empty once again. The boys’ team fell to Fairfield Prep 15-50, Hand 15-50 ands Foran 15-50 in Madison.
In a meet dominated by the Jesuits, Chris Alvarado of Fairfield Prep won the 3.0 mile course with a time of 16 minutes. Teammate Adam Vare was second in 16 minutes, 26 seconds and Prep’s James Muliken was third in 16:38.

West Haven falls in second meet of year

 The West Haven cross country teams failed to pick up their first win of the year Tuesday afternoon when both traveled to Middletown.
The boys’ team lost the 5K race to Xavier, 15-50, Branford, 15-50 and Wilbur Cross, 21-34. Xavier’s Zach Williams won in 17 minutes, 20 seconds, while teammate Jack O’Hara was second in 17:30. Branford’s Ryan Connell was third in 17:43.On the girls’ side, West Haven fell to Mercy, 15-50. The Tigers’ Kaleigh Roberts won in 19:04, which was a new course record, and Danae Rivers of Wilbur Cross was second in 19:31.

West Haven drops meets in boys’ and girls’ races

The West Haven boys’ and girls’ cross country teams were shut out in the season opener for both Tuesday afternoon in Sheehan.
On the boys’ side, the Westies fell to Sheehan 15-50, Notre Dame-West Haven 15-50 and Shelton 15-50. Notre Dame’s Dave Napierkowski won the race in 17 minutes, 37 seconds. Shelton’s Joe Edelstein was second in 17:48 and Sheehan’s Tommy Laydon was third in 18:06.The girls fell to Sacred Heart Academy 15-50, Shelton 15-50 and Sheehan 15-48. Sheehan’s Liz Fengler won in 20:18, Shelton’s Virginia Lewis was second in 21:25 and Sacred Heart’s Molly Muffy was third in 21:48.
